INGREDIENTS: Oil, Jeera, Green chillies, Pesarapappu (green gram), Raw rice, Salt, Pepper, Cashews, Turmeric, Water, Ghee

PREPARATION:
  • Place cooker on flame, heat 2-3 sppons of oil
  • Add jeera, split chillies and fry for a while
  • Now add 1 glass of green gram and fry for 2 minutes
  • Then add 1 glass of raw rice, 7 glasses of water, pinch of turmeric, salt
  • Mix well all the ingredients and close the cooker lid for 3 whistles
  • Mean while, take samll spatula, heat 2 spoons of ghee in it
  • Add jeera, beaten peppercorns or pepper, few cahsews, salt and fry
  • Once cooker is cooled, open the lid add the fried cashews and mix well
  • Spicy spicy kara pongal is ready to serve
  • Tastes good with ground nut chutney or onion raitha or onion pullakura
